Two-component (2K) polyurethane primer is a professional primer coat that provides high adhesion, corrosion, and chemical resistance to metal and steel surfaces. It offers excellent system compatibility with topcoat polyurethane paints and provides a smooth, level surface with fast drying and excellent sandability. Product colors: Gray and Off-White.
Featured Features
- High adhesion strength, corrosion and chemical resistance
- Fast drying, good levelling and sandable surface
- Compatible with top coat polyurethane/acrylic polyurethane paints
- Easy application by air/airless spray, roller or brush
- Suitable for industrial use (workshop, OEM, maintenance-repair)
Areas of Use
Steel constructions, machinery and equipment bodies, metal furniture, agricultural machinery, automotive sub-industry parts, shelf/chassis systems, white goods metal parts. (Use with appropriate pre-treatment/adhesion enhancer on galvanized and aluminum surfaces.)
Technical Information (Typical)
- System: 2K Polyurethane Primer (A+B)
- Mixing Ratio: 4 : 1 (A : B, by volume)
- Thinning: 5–15% with PU thinner (method/temperature dependent)
- Pot Life: ~2–3 hours / 20 °C
- Recommended dry film thickness (DFT): 40–60 µm/coat (system total 80–120 µm)
- Consumption (theoretical): ~6–8 m²/L @ 50 µm DFT (depending on surface and wastage)
- Drying 20 °C: Dust dry 20–40 min, touch dry 1–2 hours, intermediate coat/sanding 4–8 hours, full cure ~7 days
- Application Equipment: Conventional/airless spray, roller, brush
- Ambient Conditions: Surface ≥ +10 °C, relative humidity ≤ 75%, surface temperature ≥ 3 °C above dew point
Note: Values are for guidance only; they may vary depending on the environment, color, and method. For final selection, conduct your own experiments.
Surface Preparation
- Steel: Oil-dirt removal + sand blasting (preferably) or mechanical cleaning (St2-St3) to Sa 2½.
- Galvanized/Aluminum: Light roughening + suitable adhesion promoter.
- Mixture: Add component B to A; mix with a low-speed mixer until homogeneous. Let it rest for 5–10 minutes.
- Viscosity: Adjust with PU thinner by 5–15% if necessary; filter and deliver to the device.
- Application: 1–2 thin and uniform coats; 4–8 hours between coats.
- Top Coat: The system is completed with a polyurethane top coat (observe manufacturer’s waiting windows).
- Safety: Contains flammable solvent; ensure good ventilation, wear appropriate PPE (gloves/goggles/mask).
