Polyurethane thinner is a specially formulated additive for thinning polyurethane-based paint, varnish, and coating systems, facilitating application and ensuring even surface spreading. It typically contains high-purity aromatic and aliphatic solvents. These solvents are compatible with the chemical structure of polyurethane systems and provide excellent results in the application of two-component (A+B) curing products.
Main technical specifications
- Solubility Compatibility: Fully compatible with polyurethane binders. Its high solubility feature increases the fluidity of the paint film.
- Ease of Application: Provides the desired viscosity in gun, brush or roller applications.
- Effect on Drying Time: When used in appropriate proportions, it creates optimum surface hardness by balancing the drying time of the paint.
Film Properties: Improper or excessive use may cause film dulling, delayed drying, or surface deterioration. Therefore, a thinning ratio consistent with the manufacturer’s recommendations should be used.
It is also effective in cleaning the guns and equipment used in polyurethane paint and varnish application.
Areas of Use
- Polyurethane paints for wood, metal and industrial surfaces
- On-vehicle equipment paints
- Furniture varnishes
- Industrial protective coatings
